Dental Implant FAQ

Dental Implants Frequently Asked Questions BerwickIf you’ve been considering getting a dental implant, you likely have some concerns. You want to get answers before you decide whether to move forward. Below, we’ve compiled some of the most common questions our patients ask us about dental implants. Read on to learn more!

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a titanium post that looks like a small screw. It is surgically placed in your jawbone. The jawbone grows around the implant, accepting it like the root of a tooth. When the healing has completed, you can have a crown, bridge or denture attached to complete the dental implant process.

How many visits does it take to get a dental implant?

Typically, you’ll require two appointments after we have approved you as a candidate for dental implants. At your first visit, the implant will be placed. During a follow-up, your crown, bridge or denture will be placed.

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

There are few cases in which dental implants aren’t suitable. We’ll need to check that you have the proper amount of bone left in your jaw. If not, you may require a bone graft first. We’ll be sure to discuss any contraindications with you at your initial consultation.

Will the procedure for dental implants be painful?

We believe in comfortable, stress-free dental care. You can choose from the latest anaesthetic options with us. Local anaesthesia, sedation or sleep dentistry and happy gas are all available. We’ll discuss your preferences with you and be sure to meet your needs.

What are the costs involved with a dental implant?

The cost can only be estimated after we evaluate you and determine your unique needs. We’re pleased to have a promotion available for dental implants. Eligible health fund members can get an implant without paying the gap. The terms and conditions include getting 1-2 implants with no grafting procedures involved. You must also be screened for candidacy first.
